Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module "ShakesEU" Summer School Begins

The registration process for the ShakesEU Summer School (15–19 June 2026), organised within the scope of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module at Sakarya University, has been successfully completed following overwhelming student interest.

Due to the exceptionally high demand, the programme will be conducted with the participation of 120 students. Recognised as a University Elective Course worth 2 ECTS credits, the programme aims to provide an intensive and innovative week of study focused on Shakespearean dramaturgy.

International Academic Contributions and Conferences

The ShakesEU Summer School will offer students a unique academic experience by hosting internationally renowned scholars through digital platforms. Organised in collaboration with the English and American Studies Student Society, the programme will feature the following keynote events:

• 18 June 2026: Prof. Yu Jin Ko (Wellesley College), a leading scholar in Shakespeare studies and performance theory, will deliver an online/hybrid lecture.
• 19 June 2026: Wayne Carl Berg, an expert in English Language and Literature, will present an online/hybrid lecture offering an in-depth analysis of Shakespeare’s works.

Programme Information

All classes and academic conferences will be held in the B07 Conference Hall, Building A, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Both conferences will be supported through a hybrid system, enabling online participation via the technical infrastructure established in the conference hall.
